MAJOR FUNCTION:

The certified nurse midwife (CNM) is an advanced practice nurse who is responsible for the assessment, plan, implementation and evaluation of nurse midwifery care delivered to antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, well woman gynecologic and newborn patients. The CNM performs physical exams, collects, and documents data, manages labor and spontaneous delivery, conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations, and prescribes appropriate interventions and medications. The CNM practice includes primary as well as specialized care provided in multiple locations for OB and well woman gynecology outpatient visits at the Elmer office, and in the hospital setting at Inspira Mullica Hill L&D and Mother/baby including triage. The CNM promotes safety and quality in clinical care, contributes to research and teaching, and provides leadership in the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and completed master's or postgraduate certificate from an accredited nurse midwifery program.
• Minimum one year experience as a certified nurse midwife unless candidate was a student with the practice or completed a fellowship with the practice.

Certifications/ Licensure:

• RN licensure in state of NJ.
• Certified Nurse Midwife license with prescriptive privileges in NJ.
• Must demonstrate and maintain credentialing and licensing requirements of Inspira Health Network and NJ State Board of Nursing and NJ State Board of Medical Examiners, as well as Certification by the ACNM/AMCB.
• BLS Certification, NRP.

Knowledge & Skills:

• High quality of nurse midwifery competence.
• Advanced leadership skills.
• Able to react quickly to prevent injury to patient or self.

Equipment Operated:

• Standard office equipment including computers, EMR, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.

Work Environment:

• CNM will see inpatients at Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill and outpatients at multiple IMG office locations.
• CNM will provide office call. Changes may be necessary to cover requests for colleagues who are out of the office.

Mental/Physical Requirements:

• Mental capacity to perform responsibilities.
• Able to walk briskly, stand and lean over.
• Able to lift moderate weight.
