The Benefits Outreach Specialist will engage with and advocate for State employees to provide guidance, education, and assistance for the wide array of benefits offered by the State of South Dakota, creating a culture of world-class customer service.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting employees with health, flexible benefits, and account-based savings plans, along with being able to assist with general information about the State's wellbeing and EAP programs. Excellent oral and written communication skills are critical for this position, as daily interaction with our customers to provide education and answer complex benefits questions will occur virtually, telephonically, electronically, and in-person. This position will be working with specific agencies to bring value-added education to employees on their benefit features, attending annual benefit fairs, being available virtually and onsite for Open Enrollment, creating presentations, reviewing the BHRA Benefits website for updates, providing suggestions for communications that will further educate employees on their benefits, and outreach to assist newly hired employees with navigating the complexities of their benefit offerings.

Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
This position will require travel throughout the State of South Dakota 1-2x monthly or as required; more travel is anticipated leading up to and during our Open Enrollment period in May (25% travel).
