Job description
We are hiring! Our client in the Corrugated industry is evaluating candidates for the Production Supervisor Apprentice Program. This is a one-year program that will provide the tools, skills, and experience that he/she/they will need to supervise a production line.
Summary: Responsible for plant production activities on a specific shift. Responsible for
meeting production schedules and standards, producing product in accordance with customer
requirements, and maintaining optimum ( quantity/quality) production at the least possible cost.
Main Responsibilities - Directs the production and material handling activities for the plant during the shift.
- Administers plant rules and procedures
- Recommends employees and candidates for promotion, hire, demotion disciplinary action and/or termination
- Attends production meetings and manages the work schedule for the machines to prevent idle time, and ensure the proper use of manpower, machinery and material. Responsible for scheduling and controlling overtime working with the plant production needs.
- Maintains standards of quality to meet customer and internal specifications. Strives to continuously
- improve quality performance through proper training, good communication, effective supervision and follow-up
- Provides clear, direct, communication to the team leaders on scheduling, safety, quality and efficiency performance daily through verbal and written reporting
- Provide constructive feedback and documents performance
Additional Job Responsibilities - Works with the continuous Improvement coordinator to support and implement lean practices
- Updates and communicates weekly production, waste, quality and gain share
- Coordinates the implementation of any approved process or procedure changes. And follows-up to insure understanding and proper implementation.
- Works towards reducing set up times, and increasing run speeds
- Writes performance reviews for approval and communicates to crew member
- Monitors and audits quality throughout shift
- Works with quality on customer complaints and resolution
- Works with scheduling to ensure maximum efficiency on machines
- Review waste metrics with crew and posts
- Maintains employee morale through fairness and impartiality
Requirements for the role:
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering or Management
- Available to work any shift
- Knowledge of production processes and equipment
- Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and other related software
