About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking an Underwriting Associate Manager in Credit Card and Merchant Services as part of Consumer Lending. Learn more about the career areas and lines of business at wellsfargojobs.com .

In this role, you will:

+ Supervise staff in tasks and processes to ensure timely completion, quality, and compliance in Underwriting

+ Review lending decisions for adherence to established guidelines

+ Review and recommend credit decisions exceeding assigned staffs lending limits

+ Ensure all loan packages are accurately analyzed and properly documented

+ Identify opportunities for development and improvement in the team functions

+ Implement and monitor tracking and performance mechanisms

+ Ensure all procedures are in compliance with government regulations and bank policies

+ Make decisions and resolve issues related to business operations under direction of the Underwriting management

+ Interpret and develop processes for workflow within the team

+ Collaborate with team and other departments to resolve credit issues

+ Interact directly with customers

+ Manage allocation of people and financial resources for the Underwriting team

+ Mentor and guide talent development of direct reports and assist in hiring talent

+ Successful attainment of Lending Approval Authority within 60 days of on-boarding

+ Work one late night until 7:00 pm weekly is required

+ Saturday site coverage on a rotational basis required

Required Qualifications:

+ 2+ years of underwriting, loan processing, originations, or closing experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

+ 1+ years of Leadership experience

Desired Qualifications:

+ Strong leadership to manage in a highly dynamic operations environment

+ Advanced knowledge of consumer lending, credit and underwriting principles, guidelines, and policies

+ Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

+ Ability to support many high priority efforts simultaneously

+ Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships within and across functional areas

+ Experience working within an environment that is highly accountable for business process management, strong controls, and employee engagement.

+ Experience leading change and motivating employees to achieve high level performance

+ Superior communication with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse groups

+ Experience with coaching and development of others in an environment where employees act with independent authority

+ Strong time management skills and successful navigation of competing priorities

+ Experience assessing multiple reports, key metrics and ability utilize data toward continuous improvement

+ Experience with Microsoft office products including Excel, Power-Point, 365 and Teams

+ Experience with navigating multiple system applications, platforms, and tools simultaneously

+ Experience navigating in highly interactive and communicative environments including virtual chats, Outlook, Skype, Zoom and Teams

+ Knowledge of Consumer Card Lending and Payments industry

+ Experience with GUI , ACAPs and CSS systems, Hogan, SVP , Innovis Failsafe, and Nexidia

+ Technical writing skills

+ Collaborate with other Managers and key business partners to deliver an exceptional customer experience, share best practices and resolve operational issues.

+ Maintain a high level of interaction with employees through daily, weekly, and monthly meetings.

+ Be a key contributor to the oversight of operational workflows including application inventory, queue management and service levels

+ Collaborate with Workforce Optimization partners to ensure support, coverage, and employee schedule accountability.

+ Complete routine quality monitoring of Underwriter credit decisions and phone quality

+ Collaborate with Quality Assurance partners evaluating trends, analyze findings and implement actions to address performance deficiencies.
