Job description
Our client is looking for a Business Intelligence Lead to join their team in Wall, NJ.
Open to direct hire or contract to hire
Pay: $60-80/hr or $145-150k
On-site in Wall, NJ 3 days
They are seeking a BI (Business Intelligence) Lead to be responsible for designing, constructing, testing, optimizing and deploying solutions that transform data into meaningful and useful information for business purposes. The BI Lead provides the vision on data strategies and sources, technologies, and best practice reporting and analytics capabilities. The BI Lead is responsible for the successful delivery of business intelligence capabilities to the entire organization and is experienced in BI development and implementations, data architecture and data warehousing.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of business intelligence solutions using Power BI, Azure Synapse, Data Factory, and Data Warehousing
- Enable self-service governance for data analysis and management, including creating and implementing policies and strategies
- Communicate with stakeholders to understand their data and reporting requirements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, finance, and operations, and other departments to ensure that data is accurate and accessible to meet business needs
- Monitor data quality and accuracy and take action to resolve any issues
- Manage and develop a team of BI analysts and developers
- Develop and implement business intelligence & analytics to support organizational initiatives
- Analyze business requirements to design and develop optimal technical solutions using approved tools and methodologies
- Support full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) including requirements, design, development, testing, implementation, and training for building BI solutions
- Build star schema data models, performing ETLs and validating results with business representatives
- Drive pragmatic approaches to solving key complex business problems through a variety of business intelligence tools. Ability to bring the right data technique to solve the problem in an explainable manner to business partners
- Grow the data and technical environment by researching new technologies and techniques to create efficient process around data extraction, security, aggregation and analytics, and governance
- Execute advanced data analytics models with effective and practical short- and long-term actionable solutions
- Estimate solution cost (including tools, tasks, complexity, resources and time)
- Collaborate with internal business units to better understand needs and provide necessary support
- Work with power users of the analytics/reporting tools to advice on best practices for the business Intelligence reporting
- Present information through reports/dashboards and visualization
- Support implemented BI solutions by: monitoring and tuning queries and data loads, addressing user questions concerning data integrity, monitoring performance and communicating functional and technical issues
- Document and maintain BI solutions
- Engage customers at all levels to understand challenges and needs to develop technical solutions
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer and information science or related major. Master's degree in business intelligence is desirable
- 7 years of hands-on Microsoft Power BI, Azure Synapse, and Data Factory, Data Warehouse, ETL, SQL Server, Informatica and BI development
- Experience with self-service governance, including creating and implementing policies and strategies
- 2 years of hands-on experience designing and building data lake-based solutions
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities that include articulating a vision of future trends for analytics, developing a detailed roadmap for the realization of that vision, and managing the resources to the successful development and implementation
- Experience modeling Oracle Cloud ERP data, SAP C4C, and IBM Maximo systems a plus
- Knowledge of cloud and hybrid-cloud implementations including IaaS, PaaS and SaaS
- Experience with a variety of business intelligence tools and applications, such data visualization, data mining and analytics, ETL/EDW, data processing, and data storage tools
- Ability to write SQL queries, PL/SQL, and experience with Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases
- Experience with advanced visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools. Expertise in creating the appropriate data visualizations to uncover patterns in data to answer business questions
- Experience with ETL processes and tools such as SSIS, Informatica IICS
- Experience in design and development of data warehouse, data marts, and data lake technology stack
- Experience in utilizing cloud technologies for building BI solutions
- Experience with best practices of Business Intelligence architectures and processes such as Star Schema/Kimball dimensional data modelling
- Experience within the Microsoft stack of technologies is preferred
- Experience deploying reporting and dashboard solutions
- Knowledge of predictive and prescriptive analytics, data mining a plus (Python and R preferred).
- Knowledge of the tools, technologies and practices needed to perform in-depth analysis of both structured transactional data, and semi-structured or unstructured data
- Highly developed analytical, problem-solving, and consulting skills, with a proven track record of using data to provide actionable business results
- Experience in validating an overall solution from the perspective of performance, scalability, security and capacity
- Effective communicator. Must be able to express complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to understand and improve business processes
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical solution design/concepts and tasks for the engineers
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
