Job description

We are a small, warm community of educators and families in the heart of Rockville.The Director will create opportunities for students to channel their curiosity, energy, and exuberance into a variety of activities after the school day is over. 

Responsibilities include:

Director of After Care - (2pm - 6pm)

• Planning and supervising enriching, hands-on after school activities for about 20 students
• Maintaining inventory of supplies, games, and equipment.
• Coordinating enrichment classes with outside vendors
• Providing effective communication with parents, both in person and digitally (newsletters, emails, etc.)
• Ensuring that the after school program is in compliance with state and local child care regulations
• Managing Cardinal Club data, childcare management software (Ultracamp), and maintaining accurate paperwork for students and staff
• Negotiate activities with vendors
• Building positive relationships with students and staff
• Guiding students in the resolution of conflicts or concerns and address discipline issues in an age-appropriate, restorative manner
• Manage a team of assistants and coordinate their hours

Floating Teacher Assistant - (10am - 2pm)

• Fill in as a substitute teacher when teachers are out or need bathroom breaks
• Assist with small group work in math and reading
• Assist with science lab set ups and clean ups
• Help to create and decorate bulletin boards and wall displays
• Make photocopies and laminated materials as needed
• Perform assigned duties such as recess and lunch duties

A qualified candidate will have/demonstrate:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Completion of 6 semester credit hours (90 clock hours) of early childhood or elementary education coursework
• Experience working with elementary and middle school aged school children
• Excellent organization and communication skills and detail orientation
• Team player with a positive, “self-starter” attitude

Pay: $25 per hour

Monday - Friday:  10am - 6pm
