Job Purpose

The Quality Assurance Manager plays a critical role in managing activities related to the development and continuous improvement of the site's quality management system. The primary objective is to ensure top management and the organization understand and comply with applicable management system standards, such as ISO9000. The incumbent prioritizes implementing business processes compliant with these standards, effectively deploying resources, and contributing to the achievement of management system objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Identifying and Addressing Deficiencies:

• Identify deficiencies in business processes.
• Prioritize workload based on identified deficiencies.
• Lead cross-functional teams to effectively implement preventative and corrective actions.

Ensuring Compliance with Quality Systems:

• Ensure compliance with standard requirements specific to the quality systems management team.
• Oversee document control, customer complaint handling, and related business processes to ensure effectiveness.

Promoting Quality Systems Awareness:

• Promote quality systems awareness through regular communication with all associates.
• Ensure the entire staff understands the requirements for effective implementation of a quality system.

Reporting and Feedback:

• Prepare reports on the condition of the management system.
• Regularly present reports to management with feedback.
• Ensure management understands corrective actions needed for non-conformities.

Developing Training Programs:

• Develop specific training programs to enhance associates' skills.
• Encourage each associate to adopt an objective, facts-based approach to business process improvement.

Managing Audit Processes:

• Manage internal and external management systems audit processes.
• Ensure line management is aware and prepared for these activities.
• Ensure the audit process is effective, and corrective or preventative actions are implemented as necessary.

Third-Party Certification:

• Lead and ensure all activities associated with achieving third-party certification are effective.
• Manage communication with and the selection of registrars, including the registrar selection process.

Staying Informed and Reflecting Changes:

• Stay abreast of changes to management systems standards.
• Ensure changes are reflected in the site's business processes.

Maintaining External Relationships:

• Maintain contact with external professional quality organizations and consultants.
• Stay informed about changes in quality management concepts and ideas.

Supporting External Suppliers:

• Support the development of external suppliers by working with purchasing and other functional areas.
• Ensure supplier requirements are known and met.

Collaboration with Sales and Marketing:

• Work with sales and marketing to ensure significant customer problems are effectively managed and solved.

Level of Autonomy

This role operates with a high level of autonomy, making independent decisions on customer visits, consulting, and training activities. The job holder contributes to product portfolio expansion decisions and influences new product or brand launches in the market.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, engineering, or related field.
Minimum of 7 years of quality systems experience/education.
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
Team-oriented problem-solving skills and small team leadership experience.
Understanding of business management systems and relevant standards (e.g., ISO9000).
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to read, comprehend, and follow safety instructions and guidelines.
Dedicated safety leadership and presence.
Strong analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Manufacturing experience, especially in a quality role with quality systems implementation.
Process mapping and development; SPC charting, and other statistical tools experience.

As a Quality Assurance Manager, your role is pivotal in maintaining the highest standards of quality and ensuring continuous improvement within the organization.

Rewards/Benefits

The salary range for these skills is:  $90,000 - $100,000.00.  This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.  This salary range may also be modified in the future.
