Position: Human Resources Director – Manufacturing

Summary of the Position

The Human Resources Director will have overall responsibility for developing, directing, coordinating and maintaining the HR practices throughout the manufacturing facility. This position is hands-on to problem solve with executive leadership, peers, and manufacturing employees.

Essential Functions

  1. Manage the day-to-day employee and labor relations in accordance with legal, divisional, and corporate guidelines.
  2. Serve as a strategic business partner to leadership in an effort to solve organizational challenges with a focus on developing and executing strategies to help attract, engage and retain talent.
  3. Partner with the HR and management team to handle complex or sensitive employee relations issues.
  4. Support the delivery of HR Processes to the business and build a strong business relationship with internal partners, actively identify gaps, propose and implement changes necessary to cover risks.
  5. Ensure all payroll updates are communicated to the Payroll Administrator in advance of payroll processing deadlines.
  6. Support plant operations through headcount planning and recruitment of all levels of staff, as required.
  7. Ensure strong communication continues between the manufacturing facility and the corporate office.
  8. Serve as a partner on all corporate Human Resources processes: Recruiting, Onboarding, FMLA, Unemployment claims, Benefits, Terminations.
  9. Establish programs and processes to ensure consistency amongst all manufacturing locations.
  10. Collaborate with the HR team to create training curriculum to ensure all employees are provided the necessary knowledge to be successful at Potter Global Technologies: leadership training, safety training, etc.
  11. Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  12. Conducts daily walks/greetings on the plant floor to be a positive presence for both employees and supervisors.
  13. Serve as an HR sponsor on the Engagement Committee to plan company/morale events.
  14. Oversee and lead the manufacturing Payroll Administrator. Ensure direct reports are performing and meeting all goals and department expectations.

Work Environment/Physical Demands/Travel

This job operates in a professional business office or home office where standard office equipment is routinely used, such as computers, photocopy machines, fax machines, telephones and filing cabinets.

This position is largely a sedentary role. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times. Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.

There is minimal travel required between the Missouri corporate office location and the Virgina manufacturing facility.

Required Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required OR equivalent work experience.
  2. 3+ years of Human Resource Management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Human Resources experience in a Manufacturing environment is preferred.
  2. Prior labor relations experience, including overseeing the adherence to a collective bargaining agreement and actively participating in contract negotiations.

This is a full-time position, on-site at the manufacturing facility. The hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 40 hours per week. An occasional shift in hours may be necessary to accommodate employees working on the overnight shift.
