SEWS - Farmington Hills, Michigan Office.

Basic Purpose:

Support of company goals and business objectives. Support component development group to design and develop concepts to the satisfaction of internal and external customers to ensure the needs of the component division are met. Experience designing and developing plastic injection molded components is an advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Produce design concepts using 3D CAD software.
2. Works and manages own time to meet timelines submitted by program manager.
3. Produces 2D drawing in accordance with company guidelines.
4. Be responsible for design/development from concept, through tooling, testing and into production.
5. Liaise with customers, internal and external, act as an ambassador for Sumitomo at all times.
6. Travel when necessary for design reviews, customer meetings, training, etc.
7. Perform all design calculations to ensure products are designed optimally.
8. Interface between manufacturing (SEWS Kentucky Facility) and design development (SEWS Detroit Office).

Minimum Position Specifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering along with 1-3 years of progressive engineering experience in design
• Experience using 3D CAD software (CATIA preferred)
• Experience designing and developing injection molded components 
• Knowledge of injection molding process
