Position Summary/Description:

New Student and Family Programs ( NSFP ) plans, organizes, and delivers new student orientation and welcome activities for entering undergraduate first-year and transfer students. In addition, NSFP develops a wide array of programs and services supporting the parents and family members of undergraduate students throughout the year. The Director of New Student and Family Programs provides overall, departmental, and divisional leadership for undergraduate orientation, Weeks of Welcome activities, family programming (e.g., Family Weekend), and day-to-day management of the NSFP office. The Director works collaboratively with academic affairs and other campus partners to provide information and implement an array of in-person activities (e.g., summer student orientation sessions, convocation, Week of Welcome, and Tar Heel Beginnings) facilitating an intentional transition for more than 5,000 students annually. The Director is a primary resource for parents and family members of undergraduate students and provides administrative leadership for the Parents' Council and the Parents' Association. The Director reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Engagement and serves on the Student Affairs Leadership Team.
