Job description
Mary's Woods is looking for an experienced Lead Life Enrichment Assistant who is compassionate and motivated about resident activity coordination. As the Lead Life Enrichment Assistant, you will assist the Life Enrichment Manager with the planning, development and implementation of meaningful activities that enrich the lives of our residents.
Mary's Woods is a non-profit senior living community founded in 2001. We offer independent living, assisted living, memory care and residential care in a park-like setting on 40 acres in Lake Oswego. Below are some of the core responsibilities, experience and skills needed to be successful:
- Assist the Life Enrichment manager by contributing new ideas for programs and evaluating the effectiveness of current programs in meeting the individualized needs of each resident as evidenced by participation levels
- Lead small, medium and large group activities
- Prepare rooms, equipment and supplies prior to each activity, and clean up after each activity
- Transport residents to and from activities as needed
- Maintain a safe activity environment by using appropriate risk management, preventive maintenance, cleaning and storage
- Assist with completion of activity documentation in accordance with regulatory compliance and Mary’s Woods policies
- Assist with media correspondence, mailings, newsletters, bulletin boards and displays
- Assist with field trips and outings
- Motivate others with a cheerful, positive attitude, and patience
- Possess a genuine liking for the elderly and ability to work with the physically and mentally challenged
- Able to relate positively and favorably to staff, residents and families, and to work as a team with other employees at all levels

- Oversees the creation of the activity summaries that are given to the Nurse Managers in each neighborhood for resident’s care conferences
- Gathers information and details from other team members about the resident’s participation in the community as well as activities
- Creates and oversees the Matinee and Evening Movie Programs for all neighborhoods
- Assists Life Enrichment Manager with inputting activity information in calendaring system
- Assists Life Enrichment Manager in planning outings, coordinating outside vendors, as well as planning daily activity schedules
- Oversee and adjust team members daily schedules in the absence
- Works alongside Life Enrichment Manger to welcome and orient new residents to the community and The Life Enrichment Program
- Provide manager on duty coverage as needed in the absence of our Life Enrichment Manager
Education and Experience Required:
- Dementia care and Life Enrichment experience required (at least 2 Years)
- High School graduate or equivalent with knowledge of the practical application of activity skills such as crafts, creative expression, music and group leadership
- Completion of Recreation Coordinator Training Course desired
- Current Food Handlers Card, CPR, and First Aid Certificates
- Ability to work independently as well as with supervision
- Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills with functional literacy in English necessary

Shift: Sunday to Thursday from 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
