Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced veterinary technician to join our team on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care, excellent technical skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service. As a Veterinary Technician at Stonebridge Veterinary Hospital, you will play a vital role in assisting our veterinarians with medical procedures, administering treatments, providing nursing care, and educating clients on proper pet care practices.
Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians with physical examinations, diagnostic procedures, and surgeries.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.
- Perform laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and fecal analysis.
- Take and develop radiographs (X-rays) as directed by the veterinarian.
- Provide nursing care to hospitalized patients, including monitoring vital signs, administering fluids, and maintaining medical records.
- Educate clients on topics such as preventative care, nutrition, and medication administration.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of treatment areas, exam rooms, and surgical suites.
- Handle and restrain animals safely and humanely during examinations and procedures.
- Assist with client communications, appointments, and discharge instructions.
Qualifications:
- Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) is preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working as a veterinary technician in a clinical setting.
- Proficiency in basic veterinary medical procedures and terminology.
- Strong technical skills, including venipuncture, catheter placement, and anesthesia monitoring.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with both clients and team members.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work occasional weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
