Key Qualifications
- 7+ years relevant experience in Semiconductor manufacturing, product engineering and process engineering
- Strong IC/Semiconductor Wafer Fabrication and packaging skills required
- Strong understanding of WLP and SiP Module assembly processes, design rules and process / quality controls
- Understanding of SPC and other quality metrics used to monitor factory performance
- Deep understanding of Reliability testing
- Problem solving skills and issue root causing in a pressured environment
- Interpersonal skills of leadership, communication, collaboration, influencing and negotiation
- Good teamwork with constant collaborating with multiple functional teams across Apple and suppliers
- Deep understanding and hands on experience of factory manufacturing process control and quality systems
- Expert in Best-In-Class Program Management Methodologies and system
- The job will require travel (15%) to US and Asia Manufacturing facilities depending on projects
Description
The Apple Operation team is looking for a highly motivated, Quality focused, detail oriented and results driven Component Quality Engineer focusing on Semiconductor product and process development with extensive Semiconductor Manufacturing background, excellent problem solving and communication skills.
This individual is a self-driven leader that will drive Semiconductor process development (Wafer foundry and Packaging) / quality improvements as well as Program Management methodologies and systems during NPI, ramp up and mass production working with Semiconductor component suppliers, System integration sites and a broad range of Apple internal Engineering, Product Quality, Business Management and other cross functional teams
• Work with Component / HW EEs to scope out package MCO requirements for new projects
• Drive Early engagement and deep dives with component vendors for semiconductor manufacturing technology risk assessment and FMEAs to identify risks and implement necessary mitigations prior to start of NPI builds
• Collaborate with vendors and internal DFM, PD and Rel teams to identify ‘Component to System’ integration risks and drive necessary mitigations
• Audit NPI build data to assess component health and drive necessary mitigations to enable early maturity and MP readiness prior to system ramp
• Monitor System build data and drive FA / Root cause investigations on component failures with vendors and internal teams to resolve process & quality issues in the product and manufacturing processes
• Drive vendor factory / process control audits of fab, assembly & test sites for manufacturing risk assessment and mass production readiness
• Ensure suppliers are conforming to Apple quality specs and requirements
• Ensure qualification and reliability activities at suppliers are in line with requirements
• Implement Best-In-Class Program Management Methodologies, Systems and Practices to track Project KPI’s and identify critical path to closure
• Feedback ‘real time’ learning from any sustaining issues
• Manage all program-related communication to executive management including: Highlight key program risk to management and clearly explain path to resolution
• Routine status reporting to executives and issue escalation when needed
Education & Experience
BS/MS in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $148,200.00 and $223,100.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
