The Senior AWS Cloud Engineer will be a member of the engineering team that manages and supports the operation of Stride AWS Cloud environment. The selected candidate will provide technical expertise and architectural/design recommendations to deliver optimal performance of the AWS cloud footprint. They will work with the architecture, security, and development teams to optimize networking, serverless compute and cloud storage. The selected candidate will also develop and implement instrumentation, monitoring and new design-patterns to ensure reliability and availability of Stride Applications in AWS cloud.
Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities: - Serve as the teams' primary point of contact for all AWS related projects and deployments.
- Provide ongoing day to day operational support of AWS cloud infrastructure.
- Provide expert advice and recommendation for building new solutions within AWS platform.
- Set up, configure, and maintain AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and more.
- Work closely with the architecture team to ensure the compliance of new solutions implemented in AWS.
- Provide guidance as needed to the AWS engineering team in performing daily operational support activities.
- Implement process and architecture improvements defined by the architecture team.
- Review Intake requests and define technical requirements based on the standards and policies defined by the architecture and security team.
- Review and recommend baseline monitoring thresholds and performance monitoring KPIs and SLAs.
- create and maintain proper documentation, including system architecture diagrams, process documentation, etc.
- Serve as technical liaison to AWS for all support issues.
- Perform tuning for Cloud resources - IOPS, CPU/EC2s, Memory, Storage/S3.
Minimum Required Qualifications : - Minimum 5 years' experience in designing, implementing, and supporting AWS Cloud-based infrastructure and Linux systems AND
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field OR
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Certificates and Licenses : AWS Certified Solutions Architect or equivalent.
OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Experience with AWS cloud technologies and infrastructure as a code.
- Extensive knowledge of AWS cloud architecture principals, design, and security.
- Strong background and experience in Linux and Windows system administration.
- Experience with Postfix and AWS SES administration.
- Experience with systems automation using BASH, Python and Perl.
- Practical understanding of network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching,
- Excellent troubleshooting skills at all levels, from application to network to host.
- Knowledge of containerization technologies (such as Docker, Kubernetes), etc.
- Experience with performance testing and tuning.
- Familiar with Elasticsearch/Logstash/Kibana.
- Significant experience of monitoring frameworks (such as CloudWatch and New Relic).
- Experience in designing and building application workloads in AWS using common AWS resource types like EC2, ELB, RDS, and S3.
- Experience with cloud optimization from both a performance and cost perspective.
- Experience with AWS cloud services pricing and utilization models.
- Extensive knowledge of AWS cloud architecture principals and services
- Experience using monitoring solutions in AWS like CloudWatch
- Experience in managing and supporting AWS networking-based services including ELBs, Security Groups and VPCs.
- Experience with disaster recovery solution in AWS cloud (ex: site reliability engineering, multi-Availability Zone, Multi-Region)
- Experience with collaboration across functional borders enterprise-wide (i.e. within and outside of IT)
- Ability to pass a required background check.

Compensation & Benefits: Stride, Inc. considers a person's education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position's work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee's salary level. Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position's level and expected contribution, and the employee's benefits elections. Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range.
- We anticipate the salary range to be $77,000 to $156,000. The upper end of this range is not likely to be offered, as an individual's compensation can vary based on several factors. These factors include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions. Eligible employees may receive a bonus. Stride offers a robust benefits package for eligible employees that can include health benefits, retirement contributions, and paid time off.
