Job description

We are currently supporting rapidly growing client in the northern Virginia market in search of a Vice President of Finance and Accounting to lead their finance team and drive financial strategy and performance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in accounting, financial planning and analysis, and strategic management. While this role will remain hands on with the business, it will also require strong leadership abilities, strategic thinking, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments to achieve organizational goals. The successful candidate for this role will be on a fast track to the CFO position.

Compensation: 180,000-200,000 + bonus

Responsibilities:

· Provide strategic leadership and oversight of all financial and accounting functions, including general accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

· Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.

· Lead the preparation and analysis of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, to provide insights into the company's financial performance and trends.

· Manage the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to develop budgets, forecasts, and financial plans aligned with strategic objectives.

· Conduct regular financial reviews and variance analysis to identify areas of improvement and drive operational efficiencies.

· Collaborate with executive leadership to evaluate strategic initiatives, investment opportunities, and business expansion plans, providing financial insights and recommendations.

· Maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions, to ensure timely and accurate reporting and compliance.

· Lead and mentor a high-performing finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of collaboration, professional development, and excellence.

· Stay abreast of industry trends, economic developments, and regulatory changes that may impact the company's financial performance and operations.

· Serve as a key advisor to the CEO and executive team, providing strategic financial guidance and contributing to decision-making processes.


Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master's degree preferred.

· Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.

·8-10 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

· Strong understanding of financial principles, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.

· Proven track record of developing and executing financial strategies that drive business growth and profitability.

· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.

· Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate future trends and challenges and develop proactive solutions.

· Exceptional leadership abilities, with a demonstrated track record of building and motivating high-performing teams.

· Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

· Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
