That’s where you come in! Atomic Arcade is a brand-new video game development studio located in the Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina area led by industry veterans from AAA game and film studios. We are in the process of staffing up our development team with outstanding talent to build our first multi-platform, AAA game - a bold and contemporary new take on the GI JOE Universe starring the legendary character Snake Eyes! This is an excellent opportunity to not only build an outstanding AAA experience but to also help form the core foundations for the studio and team to build upon. As Lead Hard-Surface Artist at Atomic Arcade your role will be to establish high quality standards for the team by defining industry leading processes, setting high fidelity visual targets, and providing artistic mentorship. You will be empowered to create first in class 3D models and collaborate closely with the Art Director and team to deliver outstanding gaming experiences for players. The ideal candidate for this position is passionate about gaming and the creation of AAA quality assets and strives to develop efficient and practical content processes for all team members to rally behind. We are considering on-site, hybrid, remote working options for candidates. What You'll Do: Lead and drive 3D hard surface art initiatives. Provide feedback and guidance to internal and external outsource teams to ensure technical requirements and artistic quality bars are achieved. Produce high-caliber, realistic 3D models which adhere to the project’s visual and technical requirements, being vigilant of creating engine performant assets. Work closely with the Art Director as well as the Art and Design leads to develop concepts into practical game ready models. Collaborate with the Animation and Technical Art teams, providing assets to be rigged, animated and implemented into the engine. Define and develop content pipelines and processes. Provide documentation for best practices and processes in 3D art development. Mentor and guide artists, helping level-up and acquire new skills and navigate their careers. What You'll Bring: Previous experience as a Lead, Principal or Senior level Hard Surface artist. Good understanding of art fundamentals; design, structure, form and function. Proficiency in 3D asset creation, with a strong technical competency. Expertise with 3D and 2D software suites (Maya, 3DMax, ZBrush, Blender, Substance, Photoshop. Unreal Engine experience (Unreal 5 preferred) Strong verbal and written communication, able to give and receive clear feedback. Ability to find creative solutions to artistic challenges and problems. Able to work with a high degree of self-direction, but also within a collaborative creative team. Have shipped multiple PC/Console titles.
