Job description

Our Award Winning Client is seeking a skilled Construction Estimator with 3-5 years of experience in concrete and civil construction, APWA, KCMO/MODOT/KOT standard specs, and commercial concrete construction. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in estimating software, Microsoft Outlook, Word, & Excel, strong mathematical skills, extreme attention to detail, and the ability to make independent decisions. Leadership qualities, excellent time management abilities, and strong written and oral communication skills are also essential.

Qualifications:

• 3-5 years’ experience in concrete and civil construction.
• Familiarity with APWA, KCMO/MODOT/KOT standard specs.
• Experience in commercial concrete construction.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare project estimates using B2W software.
• Accurately set up each job in the bidding software.
• Interpret blueprints, specifications, and agendas correctly.
• Compile sub and supplier quotes, utilizing the quote subsystem in estimating software for comparisons.
• Attend bid reviews and provide necessary input.
• Price projects on bid date and submit bid closing summary to PA.
• Recommend final margin ensuring the best financial outcome.
• Capitalize on overruns and underruns when pricing projects.
• Produce timely and accurate material takeoffs.
• Develop a thorough understanding of project plans, specifications, bid assumptions, budgets, SCAs, and P.O.’s.
• Cultivate a comprehensive understanding of the project's big picture.
• Establish and prioritize tasks according to workload.
• Estimate projects up to $5 million and manage multiple projects averaging $750K.
• Deliver 3-4 complete estimates per week with multiple in the pipeline.
