The successful candidate for this position will have 10+ years of experience and be responsible for the operation, surveillance, and troubleshooting of natural gas compressors and associated equipment. Candidates must be able to relieve other Technicians, respond to callouts and work assigned weekends.

Position is in Roswell, New Mexico. (Relocation assistance is available)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

May include any or all of the following. Other duties may be assigned. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

- Demonstrate strong commitment to safety (personal safety, co-workers, contractors and the public)

- Performs scheduled preventive and corrective field mechanical service on gas compression units.

- Validating and inputting compressor readings and downtime.

- Track health of equipment by reviewing compressor/engine temperatures and pressures.

- Troubleshoot compressor/engine down codes and implement fixes

- Diagnose engine/compressor failures accurately and efficiently.

- Conduct timely rebuilds/overhauls of compressors, engines and controls on gas compressor packages in the field or shop.

- Represent the company in a professional manner while performing all assigned tasks.

- Responsible for submitting accurate maintenance reports, timesheets and other necessary paperwork daily.

- Communicate with management

- Ensure all equipment is in clean and presentable condition

- Perform any additional, miscellaneous tasks as delegated

Skills/Capabilities/Education:

- Proven knowledge of machines and tools, materials, methods, and the tools involved in the repair of compression units.

- 10+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A minimum of one year in a vocational/ technical training or apprenticeship program is preferred but not required

- Motivated self-starter capable of working independently and efficiently with little or no supervision.

- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

- Ability to follow instructions, respond to management direction; take responsibility for own actions; keep commitments; complete tasks on time or notify appropriate person with an alternate plan.

- Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment; manage competing demands; change approach or method to best fit the situation; able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.

- Proven ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information skillfully; develop solutions.

- Proven ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.

- Mechanical intuition or ability

- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills

Conditions:

- Overtime, extended or non-traditional working hours may be required

- Must be able to stand or walk on uneven terrain, climb personnel stairs and ladders, stoop, squat and/or crawl depending on the directed task

- Exposure to extreme temperatures, weather conditions and environments on a location-by-location basis

- High noise environment (>85 dB) will occur with ear protection

- Potential controlled, exposure to hazardous chemicals

- Safety first regardless of the site conditions.

Physical Demands:

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Additional Qualifications:

- High School Graduate or G.E.D.

- Must have valid driver's license and an excellent driving record

- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills

- Competent in MS Office Products (Excel, Word, etc.)

Job Type:

Full-time at the location

Schedule:

Overtime and Weekend availability

On call

Experience:

Compressor mechanic: 10+ years (Preferred)

Mechanical knowledge: 10+ years (Required)

Compensation:

$35 - $45 per hour based on experience.
