Job description
Adecco is looking to hire a Machine Operator in Roanoke!
Basic Function: Sets-up, operates, and monitors Cabler, Cabler/Strander and/or Rework Line equipment used for world class manufacture of fiber optic cable.
Significant Responsibilities: Performs specific job responsibilities in accordance with safety/quality procedures and guidelines:
Reads the set-up sheet and utilizes the product code to determine product to be manufactured, machine adjustments, and material requirements.
Sets up, runs, and monitors 36” to 64” Cabler, Planetary Strander, and/or Rework machines r all standard and nonstandard products.
Sets up and runs respooling machine to respool sub cables, fillers and wire.
Observes, measures, and inspects products at various stages of the production process to assure product is being produced per proper set-up sheet specifications.
Correctly completes all documentation specific to this job function.
Cleans equipment to prevent contamination as required.
Recognizes various defects and problems that arise during production. Assists in solving problems or notifies supervisor if required.
Runs the rework line when the workload at the Strander allows including washing cables with E Cleaner or MEK, printing cables, stripping cables, respooling cables, wire and fillers and using the stripping wheel to strip armor and FRP cables.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
Education & Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and six months related experience and/or training preferred.
Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge: Mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate a machine in a production environment. Demonstrated ability to use tools and measuring devices properly. Ability to read and follow basic instructions and to understand and implement quality procedures. Math and handwriting skills required and the ability to correctly complete all documentation. Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision. Pays close attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately and recognize and help resolve problems. Ability to operate a forklift. Ability to operate a hoist.
Pay Details: $18.00 per hour
