We are currently recruiting for a Controller to join our team in Troy, Michigan. This position will be responsible for the overall management, leadership, and direction of the Finance Departments including Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis, Tax, along with providing financial support, strategy and guidance for the USA and Canada.

Responsibilities

• Assess organizational performance against both the annual budget and long-term strategy; develop tools and reports to provide critical financial and operational information and actionable recommendations on strategy, operations, and financial performance (re-worded a bit)
• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process to ensure all deadlines are met, data accuracy is achieved, and all departments are working together (moved up higher on the list)
• Leading the monthly forecast process and the annual budget (Added)
• Direct, manage, and ensure optimal functionality and service delivery of accounting team
• Oversee the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting actives
• Monitor financial performance by measuring and analyzing results; proposing corrective actions by identifying profit improvement plans, revenue gaps, and office level profitability improvements; provide financial data and reports to senior management staff
• Drive overall process improvement initiatives for all functional departments to ensure accuracy of reporting results, compliance with internal and external requirements, customer service to both internal and external stakeholders, and department level efficiency
• Developing and implementing KPI’s for operation and financial performance measurement
• Ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations and Company policy at all times

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or finance required
• 7 -10 years of experience in corporate Controller role
• Extensive knowledge and experience of US GAAP and IFRS
• Strong knowledge and experience in monthly and annual Accounting close process, as well as knowledge of US tax law including both federal and state taxes
• SAP experience required
• CPA/CMA preferred but not required
• Ability to multi-task and properly execute multiple simultaneous assignments under pressure and tight deadlines
• Strong organizational, leadership and management skills, along with the ability to communicate and cooperate with diverse groups of people

Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or finance required

• 7-10 years of experience in a senior financial management role, partnering with executive/ senior level staff.

• 5+ years of experience in managing Accounting, FPA, Tax, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable Departments.

• Experience with financial shared services and outsourcing preferred. 

• SAP experience required. 

• Public accounting experience preferred.

Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. CPA or CMA preferred. Minimum of 10 years experience in accounting theory, GAAP, Monthly reporting and analysis., Budget and forecast preparation and analysis. Experience with an ERP system, preferably SAP and intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
