Pinpoint Talent invites qualified candidates to join our client's esteemed organization as Controller, a pivotal leadership role responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive accounting systems. The Controller will meticulously manage the entire spectrum of financial operations, ensuring adherence to stringent internal controls, regulatory compliance, and accurate reporting.
Top Requirements of the Controller:
- 5+ Years of relevant professional experience
- Bachelors Degree in accounting, finance or other related field
- Ownership of a personal vehicle and a clean driving record
- Ideally an accounting manager or controller with a non-profit background
What You'll Do as a Controller:
- Staff Management: Recruits, trains, supervises, manages, and evaluates Accounting Department staff.
- Financial Systems: Oversees diocesan accounting systems from general ledger to financial statements.
- Accounting Services: Provides financial statements and audit preparation for Chancery and Catholic Community Foundation.
- Budgeting: Prepares, implements, and maintains diocesan budget; reconciles budget variances; reports to Budget Committee.
- Internal Controls: Analyzes accounting data, recommends improvements, monitors procedures, and assists the Audit Committee.
- Audits: Coordinates annual audits, implements auditor recommendations, and conducts on-site reviews.
- Billing & Payroll: Manages billing processes, and IBS payroll system, and ensures compliance.
- Electronic Payments & Records: Implements electronic payment solutions, and develops scanning/document retention strategy.
- Parish/School Finance: Reviews QuickBooks results, develops automation strategy, and prepares reports for Finance Council.
- Grants & Funding: Provides oversight and training for grant applications, and manages distributions and reports.
- Cash Management & Investments: Handles monthly reporting, cash management, annual distributions, and reconciles custodial funds.
- Special Projects: Collaborates on projects to improve efficiency and assist leadership.
- Compliance & HR: Supports Affordable Care Act process and timesheet entry.
- Additional Duties: Performs other assigned tasks.
What You’ll Bring:
- Confidentiality and Ethics: Understands and upholds confidentiality and the role of a church-affiliated agency in human services.
- Education & Experience: College degree in accounting, business, or administration, with at least 4 years of management/supervisory experience and annual audit experience.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in accounting systems, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), and GAAP/GAAS principles.
- Communication & Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, organizational, and supervisory skills.
- Travel & Driving: Willingness to travel for work, with a personal vehicle and clean driving record.
