Reporting to the Director of Pacific Recreation, the Assistant Director, Pacific Recreation – Fitness & Wellness is responsible for providing leadership, independent judgement, management decisions and direction in the assigned program areas: Fitness Programs (Tiger X Classes and Tiger Training), Baun Fitness Center Operations, and Students’ Holistic Wellness.

Program/Facilities Management - Develop, plan, and oversee the Tiger-X Group Fitness Classes, ensuring a diverse and engaging schedule.
- Coordinate with instructors to maintain high-quality programming that aligns with the vision of move, play, and explore.
- Evaluate and update fitness class offerings based on participant feedback and industry trends.
- Direct oversight of all Fitness Equipment
- Work with other Assistant Directors to ensure the cleanliness of all Fitness Equipment
Instructor And Student Staff Oversight - Recruit, train, and supervise fitness instructors for Tiger-X Group Fitness Classes.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to enhance instructor effectiveness.
- Foster a collaborative and positive instructor community to promote a healthy and supportive environment.
Personal Training - Manage and enhance the Personal Training program, ensuring a personalized and effective fitness experience for clients.
- Oversee the certification and ongoing professional development of personal trainers.
- Implement strategies to increase participation in personal training services.
- Develop personal training price point.
- Conduct personal training sessions with clients.
Wellness Initiatives - Develop and implement wellness initiatives that align with the broader well-being goals of the Pacific Community.
- Collaborate with health professionals and experts to integrate holistic well-being practices.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of wellness programs, making adjustments as needed for continuous improvement.
- Oversee and develop the Student and Health Wellness Advocate.
Health & Wellness Events - Plan and execute health and wellness events that promote community engagement and well-being.
- Coordinate logistics, including venue selection, marketing, and participant registration.
- Collaborate with other departments and community partners to enhance the scope and impact of events.
Collaboration And Partnerships - Foster collaborative relationships with other departments and campus entities to promote a healthier campus community.
- Seek and establish partnerships with external organizations to enhance the reach and impact of fitness and wellness programs.
Administrative Duties - Maintain accurate records of program participation, instructor certifications, and other relevant data.
- Prepare reports on program effectiveness and contribute to strategic planning.
- Manage budgetary allocations for Tiger-X Group Fitness, Personal Training, and Wellness initiatives.
- Serve as the Risk Management specialist in your program areas.
- Works with the Business Manager for Campus Life to ensure all University policies are followed and ensure timely processing of all fiscal documents.
Other Duties As Assigned - Fulfill additional responsibilities as directed by the Executive Director, Campus Life.
- Participates in Division of Student Life events as requested.
- Represents Pacific Recreation while working with all Student Life and Campus partners of Pacific Recreation to create a dynamic and fully collaborative Recreation program on campus including making independent decisions and recommendations on behalf of Pacific Recreation.

[email protected] Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree
- Two (2) years of progressive experience in Collegiate Recreation including but not limited to intramural sports, sport clubs, customer service, student development, facility management, program development, competitive sports, fitness programing, membership services and/or adventure programming.
- Standard CPR /First Aid Instructor Certification (to be obtained within three (3) months of employment).
Preferred Qualifications - Master’s Degree in social science, public health, higher education, sports administration, recreation, exercise science or related field.
- A nationally recognized fitness instructor certification or personal training certification ( ACE , AFAA , ACSM , NASM , NSCA ).
- Experience with Innosoft Fusion membership management software and Connect2Concepts Facilities Management software
- Demonstrated experience in student recreation centers, student activities, student life or student development.
- Involvement in professional societies and organizations.
- Knowledge of personnel management and budgeting.
- Ability to direct management goals, to facilitate change and create innovative programs.
- Interpersonal skills that facilitate collaborative and cooperative environments.
- Consistently demonstrate good judgment and decision-making abilities.
- Positive attitude, proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion.
- Extensive programming experience related to wellness in recreation or higher education.
- Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
