SUMMARY
The Chief of Dentistry YNHH will lead and guide the department towards outstanding clinical care, advancing the field through research, training the next generation of leaders in the field, and setting a culture that is collaborative and inclusive.
Develops and monitors the goals and objectives of the Department of Dentistry with a continuous quality improvement plan.
Supervises all Program Directors from each section of the Department of Dentistry including Oral Surgery, Pediatric Dental and Adult Dental. Coordinates and leads dental provider meetings with faculty, residents, dental leadership and dental staff as needed to drive program success.
Works closely with the Dental Administrator, Dental Leadership and the Vice President of Ambulatory to build and grow the Department of Dentistry.
Serves as mentor to other dental providers, residents and dental leadership staff. Serves as the liaison between the dental programs and all other YNHH and YM leadership.

1. Clinical Effort
1 .1 Assures delivering the full range of dental services including exams, preventive care, diagnosis,treatment, treatment plans and any other patient care activities related to oral health.
1 .2 Rounds the clinics regularly, meeting with faculty, residents, and patients.
1.3 Support the Program Directors to establish and monitor performance standards to measure and assess clinical performance on an ongoing basis to ensure quality and consistency with achieving superior
clinical outcomes.
1.4 Maintains current knowledge of clinical and operational best practices. Models and mentors providers in application of these practices.
1.5 Collaborates with administration, operations and other teams to build scalable training for new and existing clinicians to ensure consistent clinical performance.
2. Administrative Effort2.7 Collaborates with schools and other organizations participating in the education and development ofdental providers to facilitate recruitment. Participate in all interviews for recruitment for leadership
positions and faculty roles in the department.
2 .8 Ensure credentialing for our faculty is completed in a timely manner.
2 .9 Ensure annual reviews are completed for the Program Directors.
2.10 Participate in marketing activities as needed to build the YNHH Dental Department brand in the clinical community and with patients. Promote the Dental Department locally and nationally.
2.11 Balances clinical and business needs and communicates in a way that helps build a strong, unified team across clinical, administration, operations and other areas.
2.12 Works to develop infrastructure and training for providers within the organization to promote leadership ,resident and departmental growth.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION (number of years and type required to perform the position duties):
Graduate of a CODA accredited Dental School.
E XPERIENCE (number of years and type required to meet an acceptable level of performance):
Minimum of five years of clinical dental experience.
Three years of experience in a leadership role.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
Knowledge of regulations related to dental practice and provider credentialing.
Knowledge of dental clinical and operational best practices.
Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines and need for strict confidentiality of information .
Skilled in leading and managing teams, including building strong clinical teams and selecting, managing and retaining clinical talent.
Ability to administer and lead a large Residency Program.
Understanding and past experience with CODA.
Understanding of how to develop and sustain a culture of safety.
Understating the needs of medically complex patients.
Excellent strategic thinking skills with the ability to balance business needs with clinical needs, as well as shift thinking from overall strategy to details.
Proficient at utilizing data to drive decision-making and enjoys working on a results-oriented team.
Strong leadership skills with ability to assess situations and provide direction.
Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with employees, patients, families, and external parties from a variety of educational and socioeconomic backgrounds in an individual and group setting.
Ability to communicate across teams and levels to create common understanding and generate buy-in from team members.
Ability to lead in challenging situations and work toward effective resolution .
Ability to identify, assess and resolve issues in a timely manner in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Experience or knowledge of complex fixed prosthetics, implants and orthodontics.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
Current CT Dentist license in good standing.
Current DEA registration. BLS Certification.
