Anticipated Pay Range:

$68,000 - $80,000

Pay Range Information:

Chapman University is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate’s qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors. The anticipated pay range is not a promise of a particular wage.

Job Description Summary:

Under general supervision of the Fire Marshal, inspects campus buildings and residential property, which may include Fire/Smoke, Fire Sprinkler, Fire Exits, and Fire Suppression. Performs a variety of life safety prevention, fire safety training, and enforcement duties, and perform other related work as assigned. Selected candidate must be able to clear a mandatory DMV check.

Responsibilities:

  • Fire and Life Safety Inspections including film school
  • Computer data entry
  • Fire and Life Safety Reports
  • Campus training/education/safety/prop. weapon evaluations
  • Event standby
Required Qualifications:

  • Fire Inspector 1A-D required
  • Knowledge and understanding of fire safety, prevention standards and principles.
  • Ability to present fire safety education training sessions.
  • Skills in data entry of fire inspections and department reports.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License.
  • Valid CPR certification.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Attend safety and special event meetings.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Ability to plan, develop, and coordinate multiple projects
Desired Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate via radio and telephone.
  • Knowledge of film safety as fire safety officer.
  • Conduct student residential housing fire drills.
