REPORTS TO : Accounting Manager
SUPERVISES: N/A
JOB STATUS : Non-Exempt
JOB GRADE 9: $20.77 - $25.97 Targeted Hourly Rate
No Remote Work.
JOB SUMMARY :
The position of the Senior Accounting Specialist is a key, lead role within the accounting department. The role supports all of the department's primary duties and assists in training new employees. This position performs tasks necessary to produce financials, file regulatory reports, generate financials for the board and reconcile GLs. They are further responsible for providing support to management in reviewing the work of more junior staff as/if needed.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide CECL modeling and quarterly updates.
- File the Quarterly Call Report.
- Generate financial reports for monthly board meetings.
- Perform income and expense analysis and provide explanations for variances.
- Responsible for corporate investment accounting.
- Make general ledger entries for purchases and maturities, in addition to updating software and preparing month-end investment activity.
- Assist in preparing annual budget and ensuring necessary accruals.
- Process month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financials.
- Perform daily and monthly general ledger reconciliations.
- Perform daily bank account reconciliations.
- Serve as back up for coverage to other team members and provide work-review support to management.
- Understand compliance issues and attends training as they relate to the Senior Accounting Specialist position.
- Maintains accounting procedure manuals and cross-trains staff.
- Adheres to all credit union policies and procedures.
- Assists with organizational projects as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
- Experience with general ledger reconciliation process and/or bookkeeping.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong multi-tasking abilities.
- Must have knowledge of office machines and equipment including the ability to type.
- Excellent problem-solving, planning, organization, and time management skills.
- Able to coach others while accommodating to different learning styles.
- Patience, tact, enthusiasm and positive attitude toward all members and staff.
- Job Related Travel - As required.
Education/Experience:
- Education or experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in related field, in addition to
- 2-3 years of relevant job experience.
- Some financial institution experience is preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
