Position Summary/Description:

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

The Local Government Workplaces Initiative ( LGWI ) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is the only university-based center in the U.S. dedicated to local government workplace climate research. LGWI's mission is to help local governments create great workplaces by (1) listening to employees and (2) acting on that feedback. LGWI is directed by Dr. Leisha DeHart-Davis, a professor at the UNC -Chapel Hill School of Government and National Academy of Public Administration Fellow. LGWI was originally started in 2004 at the University of Kansas's School of Public Affairs and Administration and was formalized after Professor DeHart-Davis joined UNC . Over nearly twenty years, LGWI has surveyed, interviewed, or facilitated group discussions for nearly 16,000 employees in 35 local government organizations.

The Assistant Director of LGWI will help direct and manage research projects for the Local Government Workplaces Initiative. This person will assist in all phases of research conducted by the LGWI , including client engagement, data collection, execution of workplace climate surveys, analyses and presentation of results, and data cleaning. The Assistant Director will also support the entrepreneurial spirit of LGWI by promoting the brand and managing social media engagement strategies. This position will also have administrative and supervision responsibilities as this role will direct the work of Research Assistants.

Education and Experience:

Experience creating data visualizations and dashboards with Tableau.
Experience with engaging clients or stakeholders on data projects.
Familiarity with local government operations and workplace dynamics.
Experience with supervising and directing research assistants.
