Job description

We are currently looking for a Railroad Bridge Engineer to support a wide range of bridge engineering assignments, such as the design of new railroad bridges and other railroad structures (culverts, retaining walls, shoring, foundations, passenger platforms, overhead pedestrian bridges, unloading pits, engine shops, and so on), bridge rehabilitation projects, bridge load ratings, and construction phase engineering. Daily tasks include, but are not limited to, producing structural details and plans, doing structural analysis for bridge substructures and superstructures, creating structural requirements, and aiding with geometric layout and quantity development. The Railroad Bridge Engineer will also evaluate and verify designs, design calculations, estimates, and specifications created by other professional engineers and EITs

This position requires attention to details, strict conformance to project quality control and the ability to provide practical solutions to complex problems.

The Railroad Bridge Engineering position will require some travel across the United States with the possibilities of international travel.

Responsibilities:

Evaluate bridge loads and write reports.


Conduct structural analysis, design calculations, and develop construction plans and details.


Provide construction engineering services, including reviewing shop drawings and responding to contractor requests for information.

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Civil/ Structural Engineering Structural emphasis. Proficient in concrete and steel design

Professional Engineering licensure (PE) preferred (minimum EIT required) Proficiency with Microsoft Office software and Microstation required.

Experience using structural analysis programs and bridge design software required. For example, OpenBridge, RAM Elements, RAM Structural Systems, L-pile, Weap, MathCAD and Risa-3D.

Minimum of 5 years' experience in bridge design; Railroad experience preferred

Strong communication skills.

Strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work well with others.

Knowledge of FRA regulations, AASHTO LRFD and AREMA design codes required.
