Essential Job Functions:

1. Plans, organizes, and implements the locking, keying, and re-keying of physical security systems.

2. Coordinates staff workload and assists in the installation of mechanical and electronic hardware systems.

3. Coordinates in-house services and vendors associated with the planning, organizing, and implementation of physical security system.

4. Maintains, stores, and issues all master keying systems for all NSU departments and properties.

5. Maintains, installs, issues, and monitors the operation and maintenance of safes, vaults, and cash protection container devices.

6. Researches and orders necessary parts and supplies for maintenance and repair of equipment.

7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Specific Requirements:

1. Required to make emergency repairs after normal working hours, including holidays.

2. Available on call 24/7 for University emergencies.

3. Participates in the on call rotation.

Marginal Job Functions:

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

1. Possess intermediate to advanced knowledge of locksmithing.

2. Ability to communicate effectively with others.

3. Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and supervisory staff at all levels.

4. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

5. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS:

1. May be exposed to short, intermittent, and/or prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing in performance of job duties.

2. Must be able to walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch and climb for a prolonged periods of time.

3. Must be able to safely lift, carry, push or pull a variety of tools, equipment, materials, and maneuver safes up to 200 pounds.

4. Must be able to reach overhead and work in confined areas to access hardware and equipment.

5. Must be able to lift, carry, push or pull a variety of tools, equipment and materials.

6. Near-visual acuity needed to read equipment diagrams and inspect parts.

7. Depth perception, field of vision and color vision needed in fitting and installing parts.

8. Must be able to lift any trade tools, materials and equipment.

Job Requirements:

 

Required Certifications/Licensures:

Have or obtain current Florida Driver's License with no more than three (3) points.

Required Education:

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Major (if required):

 

Required Experience:

Two (2) or more years of locksmith experience and/or five (5) or more years of maintenance experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Previous institutional locksmithing experience.

2. Previous Nova Southeastern University employment experience.

3. Member of the Associated Locksmiths of America.

4. Previous experience with computers (i.e.: Microsoft Office Suite).
