We have an exciting opportunity for a Workers' Compensation Underwriter to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for transactional underwriting and functions associated with underwriting risks on behalf of Berkley Asset Protection.

Key functions include but are not limited to:
- Review and approve new business, endorsements, audits and renewals that fall within underwriting authority and company guidelines; refer risks that fall outside authority or guidelines
- Review risk management information to identify and recommend risk mitigation solutions and requirements
- Manage a book of business as it grows ensuring high quality and profitability of business
Anticipate insured and agent needs and find service solutions - Partner with a designated group of agents with focus on individuals and creating Berkley Asset Protection champions by building strong relationships, coaching on new business solutions, and taking time to understand what’s most important to the agent and client
- Consult and help agents understand our appetite and apply that knowledge to risk selection
- Collaborate with manager and colleagues to co-create plans that drive the business
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum 1–3+ years of Workers Comp underwriting experience
- Must have an analytical mindset to dive into the details of an account in order to craft pricing and coverage that meet underwriting guidelines, profitability models and customer needs
- Incredible empathy and understanding of the needs of our customers, both insureds and their agents alike
- You will be an excellent, pro-active advocate for Berkley Asset Protection customers and are passionate about their brand experience
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills; your communication style is flexible to the situation; you communicate clearly and with a purpose; calm under pressure; you have excellent organizational skills, integrity, and great follow-through on tasks
- You are comfortable challenging norms while working collaboratively with colleagues at all levels of the organization
- You have a strong sense of accountability, fun and adventure
- You love learning how things work and you are always looking for innovative improvements
- Proficiency with the Microsoft suite of products
- Ability to travel as needed, including overnight travel - approx. 5% travel, as needed

The company offers a competitive compensation plan and robust benefits package for full time regular employees including:
• Base Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000
• Eligible to participate in annual discretionary bonus

The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
