Position Summary

The Department of Chemistry at Michigan State University invites applications for a position of Research Associate (post-doctoral researcher). This role includes conducting research projects in the Dantus group including but not limited to: 1) Femtosecond transient absorption of excited state reactions in condensed phase, 2) Femtosecond reaction dynamics following strong field ionization of molecules in the gas phase, 3) Controlling excited state dynamics using shaped femtosecond laser pulses.

Required Degree

Doctorate -Chemistry or Physics

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have a PhD in chemistry or physics with significant research experience.

Desired Qualifications

Applicants should have no fewer than three publications in femtosecond time-resolved spectroscopy, and experience with either (a) dynamics of molecular systems in solution, or (b) dynamics of molecules in the gas phase. For (a) the applicant should be familiar with pump-probe spectroscopy and transient absorption spectroscopy. For (b) the applicant should be familiar with time-of-flight ion detection methods.
