Job description

This is a full-time, direct hire opportunity with our client, hiring immediately!
Job Duties - General
- Execute training plans established by the QA Manager .
- Train, supervise and conduct performance evaluations of inspectors.
- Metrology equipment
- GD&T
- Gage calibration
- Respond to any quality questions on the part of employees or managers.
- Complete QA steps in estimates including adding “new purchased parts” for new gages.
- Participate in the selection and justification of new metrology/inspection equipment.
General Inspection
- Maintain proper performance of tools and equipment.
- Record all data in High QA software.
- Works closely with the Master Scheduler.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain inspection records in High QA and be ready to explain the status of parts or processes.
AS9100 QMS
- Work with the QA Manager to ensure that the organization’s quality assurance system is effective, efficient, and uses the latest technology and processes.
- Participate in writing the Quality Assurance work instructions and departmental procedures to support AS9100 QMS.
- Serve on continuous improvement teams.
- Serve as an AS9100 internal auditor.
- Serve as the organization’s back-up representative when being audited by outside organizations.
- Operate in accordance with AS9100 documentation; maintain accuracy of such documentation and submit changes when needed.
Job Duties – Level III Inspectors may perform one or both of the following specialties:
FAI Expert
- Perform First Article Inspections from start to finish.
- Create part profile, balloon drawing, manufacturing steps, FAI plan, In-Process inspection plan, and Final inspection plan in High QA (Quality Management Software).
- Write CMM programs for FAI, IPI and FI and provide design input on fixture.
- Work closely with the setup machinist on the shop floor until the first article is accepted.
- Set up the CMM and run the part.
- Conduct remaining manual measurements and visual inspections to verify conformance.
- Work through non-conformances with the setup machinist.
- Train Level II Inspectors in CMM applications.
Receiving/In-Process/Final Expert
- Runs the day-to-day operations according to the loading summary including FI, RI, and gage calibration.
- Supplier Development
- Perform audits of outside suppliers
- Conduct Receiving inspection to verify conformance of parts.
- Initiate and assist QA Manager, Strategic Buyer, and Accounting with vendor returns.
- Assist the QA Manager in implementing corrective actions and help evaluate effectiveness of new process changes.
- Initiate and assist QA Manager with NCR’s/CAPA’s for customer returns and root cause analysis.
- Initiate and assist QA Manager with NCR’s for excessive scrap.
- Work with employees and managers to prevent defects.
- Conduct and interpret statistical process control when needed.
- Evaluate effectiveness of in-process inspection plan.
- Conduct roving in-process inspection of parts and provide any needed corrective action.
Qualifications
- CMM level 3 training or equivalent experience. Extensive practical experience in addition to academic training.
- Requires ASQ certified inspector credential + 5 years’ experience in a machine shop environment OR 10 years’ experience as a quality inspector in a machine shop environment.
- GD&T Expert.
- Must be able to work with all materials and products. Use all types of inspection tools and equipment, including precision measuring instruments, templates, surface plate and accessory equipment, comparators, etc.
- Have a solid knowledge of required specifications, assembly and fabrication procedures and processes, shop practices, and company products and assembly inspection procedures.
- Must possess knowledge of shop mathematics and be able to work from drawings, specifications, shop routers, or other company or customer-related documentation.
- Keyence experience a plus.
- Starrett comparator experience a plus.
