Job Description
LASEA has been at the forefront for more than 20 years in the development and manufacture of machines for laser micromachining. To support our continued growth and strengthen our organization in our US Head Office in San Diego, we have an immediate opening for a Laser Applications / Field Service Engineer.
Your responsibilities:
- Development of laser processes on our machines.
- Commissioning of our laser micromachining systems.
- Technical Leadership of machine acceptance tests in the factory in Europe and at customers' premises in North America.
- Creation of machining programs (with internal KYLA software).
- Instruction and training of operators on our machines and our software.
- Development of new machining techniques and customer demonstrations on our machines.
- Customer support by phone and/or e-mail from the office, as well as at customers' premises.
- Up to 50% travel. Mostly within North America but occasionally to Europe.
Job Requirements
Your profile:
- You have a strong technical background:
- Four-year degree in a related discipline (STEM) is required.
- Experience working autonomously at customer sites is a strong plus.
- Three or more years of experience in laser micromachining is a plus.
- Hands-on experience in the service, repair and programming of CNC machine-shop equipment is a plus.
- You have a dynamic, flexible personality and you are able to work autonomously.
- Being customer-focused is completely natural for you.
- You stand out for your structured and organized work methodology. You are patient and diligent.
- You are able to write technical reports for internal use and for customers.
- You have great interpersonal and communication skills, and you are able to work in a cross-cultural, team-based environment.
- You are fluent in English. Working knowledge of French is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to occasionally lift/push/pull a minimum of 25 pounds.
- Able to sit, stand, bend, squat and walk about the facility.
- Walking/standing a minimum of 4 hours at a time.
