POSITION SUMMARY

The lead Compensation Consultant works under minimal direction to provide professional and technical expertise in the planning of compensation projects and programs. Leads large-scale compensation projects and design analysis; and provides leadership, mentoring and technical expertise to the department. Researches and analyzes emerging trends, best practices and designs, costs and recommends program changes. 

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

REQUIRED

· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field

· Seven (7) years of experience

· Two (2) years of progressive, professional experience in compensation program design, implementation, and administration. 

PREFERRED

· Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or PHR or SPHR certification. 

· Work Experience with data analytics software and HCM applications such as PeopleSoft or MarketPay/Payscale. 

· Working knowledge of the healthcare industry and complexities of developing and administering compensation programs in an academic healthcare setting. 

· Experience within a matrixed environment in project management or change management.

JOB DUTIES

· Compensation Lead and Subject Matter Expert for one or more institutional areas (e.g., Hospital, University, Research, Business Affairs, Executives, etc.).

· Leads large-scale and complex compensation projects (e.g., job architecture, career and reward framework, salary structure design, technology implementation and optimization, etc.) with overall accountability for completing projects on-time and on-budget.

· Leads upgrade and development of compensation software systems and platforms. Develops tools, reports, and highly complex queries.

· Serves as primary resource for modeling compensation programs and mentoring professionals on the analytical process.

· Conducts extensive qualitative/quantitative analysis on overall structure and pay programs including market analysis, cost/benefit analysis, compliance, and organizational impact.

· Identifies and recommends best practices for compensation programs.

· Assists in developing and implementing compensation strategies to improve operational processing and productivity.

· Assists in training or job orientation of newly employed and/or assigned professional staff members.

· May supervise Compensation staff team members and/or have dotted line oversight.  May provide coaching, training, and mentoring, manage performance, and determine staffing needs.

· Provides backup assistance to Compensation Manager.

· Works collaboratively with all UT Southwestern administrative support functions, e.g., Audit, Compliance, Legal, Finance, Information Resources, etc., as well as the UT System and State Auditor’s Office.

· Performs other duties as assigned.
