Shift Manager Location: Blue Ash, OH Shift: 1st H.B. Fuller has a great opportunity for a Shift Manager in this 24/7 chemical facility which manufactures water-based adhesives and polymers.
The Shift Manager reports to the Production Manager and has primary responsibility for managing all production-related activities. This is a critical member of the leadership team and will have leadership responsibility to manage 25- 45 production staff. Primary Responsibilities: This role will have responsibilities including the following:
- Manage the production shift in accordance with prevailing H.B. Fuller management policies, practices, procedures, and programs.
- Provide direction, counsel, coaching, and training to production employees so as to maximize their contributions with the highest morale possible. Production employees can range between 25 to 45 headcount.
- Participate in daily shift exchange meetings and provide support to plant initiatives, including safety, quality, 5S, Housekeeping, production targets, SAP.
- Oversee and administer the Performance Planning & Administration (PPA) process for all hourly production direct reports.
- Handle all corrective and disciplinary actions according to established guidelines, in coordination with the production manager and facility manager, along with corporate HR policy.
- Manage workforce levels and participate in interviewing and selection process for new employees, and actively manage the on-boarding process for her/his new hires, in accordance with established guidelines.
- Establish, develop, implement, and maintain training standards and standard operating procedures for all hourly production positions.
- Analyze and take action to resolve work issues, and/or assist others in solving problems through the use of employee involvement and Lean/Six Sigma tools.
- Take an active role in assuring the accuracy of production, quality, and inventory reporting.
- Coordinate with the management staff in the establishment of annual goals and objectives for the facility, including areas pertaining to budget, census, and productivity.
- Maintain all current quality programs and ensure the production department meets all applicable quality requirements.
- Improve plant safety by raising safety awareness levels and performing safety training requirements in a timely manner.
- Ensure the maintenance of plant cleanliness and working conditions, in coordination with managers in the facility.
- Work with the maintenance department to track and minimize production downtime, and support proactive asset management initiatives.
- Coordinate with management and/or the facility scheduler to ensure the production schedule is executed as planned.
- Ensure production is performed in accordance with established batch sheets and production procedures.
- Develop and implement ideas for continuous production process improvements, and implement new initiatives and programs.
- Manage product and process procedures to minimize yield loss, scrap materials, and batch adjustments.
- Work to fulfill customer requirements, as defined by the facility manager and/or the facility scheduler.
- Must be able to demonstrate ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to lead and supervise others, and solve problems independently.
- Strong organizational skills and an ability to plan and meet deadlines.
Minimum Requirements: - 3 years leadership experience in a manufacturing plant, preferably chemical manufacturing site
- Bachelor's degree preferred, will consider non-degree with relevant leadership and industry experience
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations manually, with the aid of a calculator, or through the use of computerized spreadsheets.
- Solid knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programs
Preferred Requirements: - Bachelor's degree highly preferred, in chemical engineering, or mechanical
- Experience with Process Safety Management and flammable materials.
- Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma (Six Sigma Green or Black Belt would be a strong plus).
- Familiarity with SAP, or similar ERP system.
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.
The salary for this role is $82,000 - $105,000.
