Location: Nazareth, Slate Belt, Easton and Bethlehem Branches

Lifeguard Salary : $11.50 to $15.50 per hour
Lifeguard Hours : (Full-Time)
Lifeguard Responsibilities :
- Maintains active surveillance of the pool area
- Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures
- Accurately completes related reports as required
- Maintains effective, positive relationships with the members, participants, and other staff
- Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area including the sauna, whirlpool, and steam room
- Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state Health Department code
- Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed reporting any concerns to the Aquatics Director
- Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving
- Performs chemical testing when not guarding, as required, and takes appropriate action
- Attends all staff meetings and in-service training
- Performs other duties as assigned
Lifeguard Qualifications :
- Minimum age of eighteen (18)
- Lifeguard Certification
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen, ARC Lifeguard or equivalent
- Ability to maintain a level of physical and mental readiness consistently over the entire guard shift
- Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards
- Child Abuse Training must be completed within ninety (90) days of employment
- Additional training requirements
- Familiarity with personal computers helpful
- Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations
- Valid and current driver's license recommended but not required
- Able to effectively communicate and build relationships with Y staff, members, and vendors
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good customer service skills, high ethical standards, an appropriate professional image, and a team player
- Must possess sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment skills, and a positive attitude
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred, but not required
