Job description
Incoming Materials Quality Inspector The key objective for a Quality assurance inspector is to examine incoming material/products against specifications and/or inspection instructions set by the customer, supplier or Thermo Fisher Quality Duties: Perform incoming inspection on preproduction materials quickly and accurately, meeting/exceeding minimum lot requirements each week and transact materials in ERP per training; disposition to MBR as appropriate Provide inputs for process improvement for inspection accuracy and efficiency as appropriate Communicate quality findings/issues quickly to buyers, quality leadership and manufacturing Skills: experience with quality inspection and record keeping demonstrated appropriate computer and system application skills to efficiency and accurate transact information on inspected materials/lots as needed demonstrate competency with all Microsoft Office applications, in particular Outlook, Word, Excel and SharePoint Experience using ERP systems demonstrated ability to read and follow written procedures & work instructions demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal contexts knowledge/experience in manufacturing processes a plus
Exact schedule: earliest start 530am - latest start 8am. 8hrs a day - 40hrs a week. M-F. OT is possible, however, not likely.
Education requirements: High school diploma required. Associates degree in a related field is preferred not required.
Skill requirements: at least 4 years of experience in metrology and finished product inspection or related experience and/or training. High level assembly experience could be substituted for finished product inspection experience.

Inspects, measures and compares machined or fabricated parts against drawings and specifications
Inspects, measures and compares completed product assemblies for fit, finish and function against drawings and specifications
Inspects and compares kitted products for completeness and accuracy against standards and specifications
Completes appropriate paperwork including QA Inspection Reports and logs information into a database using Excel and Access
Communicates with appropriate urgency and to appropriate staff accurate, clear and concise reports of non-conforming items and assists in problem solving
Specific Skills:
Must be able to relate to other people beyond giving and receiving instructions: (a) can get along with co-workers, peers and upper management without exhibiting behavioral extremes; (b) perform work activities requiring negotiating, instructing, supervising, persuading or speaking with others; and (c) respond appropriately to criticism from a supervisor
Experienced use of electric and hand tools
Skilled use of precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers
Visual ability aligning optical images
Intermediate proficiency with multi-meters and basic electronics equipment
Basic soldering
