Role description:
Arcadis' Water Management practice is seeking an experienced Civil Design Engineer to join our team. This position may report to our Dallas, TX, or Houston, TX office.
This role sits within our Resilience Global Business Area. We work to protect our natural environment and water resources while powering our world for future generations. Around the world, we’re feeling the effects of climate change, rapid urbanization, and loss of biodiversity. The rate at which we’re seeing large-scale, unforeseen events such as floods and wildfires, is becoming more frequent. We are here to protect our natural environment and water resources while powering our world for future generations.
Role accountabilities:
As a Civil Design Engineer, you will be responsible for developing project layouts, geometrics, and survey control; grading and drainage design; subsurface utility coordination and relocation; pavements, ground improvement measures, and slope stabilization systems; and erosion and sediment control measures. To be successful in this role you should have project experience ranging from conceptual-level planning to the preparation of detailed engineering designs and construction specifications for heavy civil infrastructure projects. You must also possess technical proficiency in at least one of the following civil design tools and the corresponding CAD platform with an interest in becoming proficient in both: Bentley® OpenRoads Designer (MicroStation Connect Edition), AutoDesk® Civil 3D (AutoCAD). Project examples include demolition, rehabilitation, and/or new construction of levees, floodwalls, waterways, reservoirs, locks, dams, drainage systems, and roadways.
You will be responsible for producing well-thought-out technical designs and drawing packages needed to control project construction and deliver critical solutions for our clients. Therefore, you must develop an awareness of the interconnections of the systems being designed to help manage the effects of design development and impacts of change.
