Primary Purpose of Department:The College of Computing and Informatics ( CCI ) at UNC Charlotte is one of the most comprehensive and innovative computing colleges in the country. With over 140 faculty and staff and 4,800 students, CCI graduates more than 1,300 Bachelors, Masters, and Ph.D. holders a year. The College is organized in four academic units: Department of Computer Science (CS), Department of Software and Information Systems (SIS), Department of Bioinformatics and Genomics (BiG) and the School of Data Science (SDS). CCI has distinct research strengths in AI & Machine Learning, Cybersecurity & Privacy, Computational Bioinformatics & Genomics, Human-Centered Design, High-Performance Computing and CS education.

Description of Work:The University of North Carolina at Charlotte recognizes the differentiation of mission, goals, and objectives inherent in the diversity of disciplines represented by its colleges and departments. Thus, the Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions for Non-Tenure Track Faculty should be interpreted in the context of the related departmental and collegiate teaching goals.
Teaching – Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to teaching may include but are not limited to: subject matter competence, course design, course presentation, and grading student work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Teach undergraduate courses, participate in undergraduate advising, contribute to curriculum design and development, continually learn and improve pedagogy to enhance student learning, and be actively involved in university service. While primary engagement is anticipated at the undergraduate level, candidates that meet the criteria for appointment to the graduate faculty can be involved in graduate education, as well.
Minimum Experience/Education:UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned masters and/or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.
Preferred Education, Skills and Experience:Lecturer : Master’s or Ph.D. degree (preferred) in Computer Science or related discipline. Promise of ongoing commitment to teaching excellence and student success. Promise of continued professional development in pedagogy or other areas related to instruction. Ability or definite promise to assume leadership roles in curricular matters and mentoring. Ability or definite promise to participate in department, college, and university affairs.
Senior Lecturer : Master’s or Ph.D. degree (preferred) in Computer Science or related discipline. Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the collegiate level, and commitment to student success. Evidence of leadership in instruction and instructional innovation. Evidence of continued professional development in pedagogy or other areas related to instruction. Demonstrated ability and willingness to assume leadership roles in curricular matters and mentoring. Demonstrated ability and willingness to participate in department, college, and university affairs.
