Job Description
Burlington School District is seeking a caring and experienced registered nurse for a student with medically complex needs. Position Type: Part-time (mornings - school year days), Hours: 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on school days. This position pays hourly and entails riding the bus to and from school with the student, accompanying the student to class/school scheduled activities, providing nursing assessment and care, providing assistance with ADLs, transferring the student as needed, and following the individual care plan and doctors orders per school policy.

Job Requirements - Current and valid VT RN License;
- Current and valid CPR/AED certification;
- Ability to communicate in a professional manner;
- Ability to remain calm in emergency situations;
- Excellent health assessment skills required.
Job Preferences - Experience with pediatric intensive special needs is preferred;
- At least 2 years of relevant RN experience (preferred).
Essential Functions - Provide student direct care and implementation of an individualized health care plan;
- Collaborate with program personnel to create the best learning environment regardless of individual's health care needs;
- Assist in implementing accommodations for physical and social-emotional support;
- Assist in ambulation and transfers (including lifts)
- Monitor vital signs;
- Apply current professional knowledge regarding following conditions: Dystonia, seizures, oropharynx suctioning;
- Administer medication and conduct care plan as ordered by physician;
- Communicate daily with various members of the district team: administration, faculty, staff, parents, students and colleagues;
- Administer medication and individual care in accordance with school policy/procedures.;
- Provide relevant teaching, counseling, guidance as needed;
- Assist individual with daily living activities, e.g.: lunch, bus transportation, personal care, toileting;
- Emergency evacuation assistance
- Document in a thorough manner - utilizing an electronic database (SNAP experience preferred);
- Attend meetings IEP meetings as needed;
- Perform other nursing services per job description and as assigned.
