Newrest is hiring for Safety Supervisor on PM Shift

Mission

Newrest is looking for a Transportation Safety Supervisor. This individual will be responsible for the safety of the Atlanta facility. This individual will partner with operations to develop a culture of safety, including creating and executing a safety plan, overseeing audits, partnering with workers’ compensation carriers, and analyzing and improving trends. This individual will train, monitor, and audit all safety processes for the department. The individual will spend most of their time at the airport driving around airplanes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Ensure safety orientations are completed for all new hires and, as needed, for current employees.

· Develop accident-prevention and loss-control systems, policies, and programs.

· Monitor workers' compensation program to ensure cost containment and compliance with existing law.

· Submit all workers’ compensation claims to appropriate carrier and ensure employee receives appropriate treatment.

· Maintain liaison with legal counsel, physicians, hospitals and clinics and effects contracts for appropriate services.

· Investigate all accidents and injuries and recommend and/or coordinate corrective actions.

· Establish and maintain a modified work program for employees with restrictions.

· Schedule and oversee the company's safety committee.

· Ensure compliance with OSHA's regulations as well as local and state regulatory compliance and provide interpretation and guidance of these regulations.

· Plan, organize, direct and control activities to ensure delivery of all safety plan objectives and targets.

· Work closely with operations to identify risks and develop and implement a control methodology for these risks.

· Ensure regulatory reports are completed accurately, reviewed thoroughly, and submitted on time.

· Continuously identify, assess, and reduce/eliminate health and safety risks.

· Regular and timely attendance is expected for the position.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

· Bachelors in Health & Safety, Operations, Business Management, or other related field preferred

· 3-5 years’ experience in overall safety procedures, preferably in manufacturing environment

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Ability to see big picture while handling all the administrative responsibilities accurately and in a timely manner.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

· Proven ability to collaborate well across functions and departments, to work as part of a team, and to lead teams in achieving goals.

· Strong leadership experience with experience in start-up or turnaround environments

· Strong communication skills with ability to communicate with non-exempt to upper management levels

· Solid understanding of safety policies, OSHA regulations, and workers’ comp.

· Good knowledge of HACCP & food safety standards preferred

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, talk and/or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to handle or feel. The employee must also occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is also required to frequently inspect the manufacturing floor and will be exposed to noise levels that may range from moderate to loud.
