Disney Consumer Products is the division of Disney Experiences that brings beloved brands and franchises into the daily lives of fans through amazing products – from toys to t-shirts, apps, books, console games and more – and experiences that can be found around the world, including on the Disney Store e-commerce platform and at Disney Parks, local and international retailers, as well as Disney Store locations globally. The business is home to extraordinary teams of product, licensing and retail experts, artists, storytellers, and technologists who inspire the imaginations for people of every age.
The Disney Consumer Products Communications & Public Affairs Interns will support the team with a wide variety of projects.
What You Will Do:
Every day is different, but the responsibilities you can expect to fulfill based on each role are:
Communications Intern
Attend brainstorms and meetings to generate ideas for Public Relations activations, pitches, blog posts, and agenda & note-taking management
Assist as needed at media events - including content capturing, media hosting and routing event assets
Draft media pitches, blog posts, and other materials
Assist with media and influencer lists, track coverage, and update Public Relations calendars
Assist with project management, including campaign tracking, priority product lists and note-taking
Manage miscellaneous department and administrative needs
Shipping, tracking, receiving, and organizing product samples
Public Affairs & Communications Intern
Write articles and produce content for external and internal communications vehicles, including the company intranet site, blog posts, and more
Develop and design strategic visuals across multiple mediums, including infographics, short-form videos, digital slides, and more
Support planning and day-of needs for employee events - including content capturing, logistics, and more
Assist in media monitoring and analysis to help provide critical communication recommendations to Public Affairs executives
Help provide vetting support and risk analysis for various Disney Consumer Products engagements with celebrities, brands, content creators and others.
Assist with building a media list for Disney Consumer Products Public Affairs
Maintain the department communication and editorial calendar
Support Disney Consumer Product’s collaboration with Make-A-Wish through fulfillment of products for wishes and support for event, as well as assist with other volunteer activities benefiting charities.
Conduct research to support Corporate Social Responsibility activities
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Strong writer with the ability to learn to write conversationally and with a “Disney” tone
A strong understanding of pop culture, retail trends, and the entertainment industry
An organized self-starter who is eager to assist on a wide range of projects
Excellent attention to detail
Knowledge of AP style
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong knowledge of Disney Intellectual Property—from movies and theme parks to television, streaming services, etc.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Keynote, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, iOS operating system, Smartsheet
Previous communications experience
An ability to write for various platforms and love of storytelling is ideal
Required Education:
A junior, senior or recent graduate pursuing a degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field
Eligibility Requirements:
Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program
Must possess unrestricted work authorization
