Job description
The Landscape Maintenance Tech’s daily responsibilities include assisting landscape team in day-to-day tasks involving landscape gardening, landscape maintenance, litter removal, and leaf debris cleanup of a 30+ acre hotel property. The ideal candidate will also be able to assist in irrigation repair, landscape irrigation and turf installation, planting, mulch application, string-line trimming of fire breaks, and hand-weeding of natural turf areas.
Provides service to other areas as necessary, including Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, and Spa Departments. Other duties may include cleaning and equipment washing, minor demolition, small excavation, loading and lifting, and resetting or removal of furnishings.
ESSENTIAL WORK SKILLS AND TRADE EXPERIENCE: 1. 2 years' experience as a professional gardener.
2. Demonstrated skill in safe use of landscaping tools.
3. Ability to identify a few basic landscape plants.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Possess a valid California Driver License.
2. Able to work safely at all times using all personal protective gear required.
3. Able to work as part of a team to accomplish tasks.
4. Able to work in cold, windy, rainy conditions all day.
5. Perform technical tasks identified by Supervisor, Manager, or Director.
6. Complete training on site involving equipment and procedures related to safety and personal protective equipment.
7. Physically able to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly.
8. Physically fit enough to walk over a mile during the course of the typical workday.
9. Participate on an occasional basis to perform duties not normally associated with Engineering- that assist Cavallo Point in accomplishing overall goals
10. Participate in maintaining a safe work environment by following all departmental and property- wide safety policies and programs.
- Cooperate with other departments and personnel within the hotel, willingness to help.
- Participate in training, monthly discussions within department, and property wide meetings designated by the General Manager or her designee, and other more frequent operational meetings as required.
