Essential Job Functions:

1. Coordinates educational, cultural, and social programs that promote community engagement, multicultural education, leadership development, and social justice education.

2. Develops and acts as advisor to undergraduate multicultural student organizations, ensuring adherence to college and university policies and procedures.

3. Advises student organizations and assists with their efforts to arrange special events, such as fundraisers, receptions, professional networking opportunities, and/or symposiums.

4. Maintains or monitors departmental and/or program websites.

5. Drafts and edits student policies and procedures for approval by senior management.

6. Develops and conducts training, information sessions/workshops on diverse topics of interest to students related to understanding and supporting underrepresented, under-served, and/or marginalized student populations.

7. Establishes university-wide initiatives focused on the persistence and degree completion of underrepresented, undeserved, and/or marginalized student populations.

8. Engages in collaborative partnerships with student organizations, university departments, and local community to celebrate cultural awareness and heritage months throughout the academic year.

9. Supports the Office of Undergraduate Admissions in the intentional recruitment of underrepresented, undeserved, and/or marginalized student populations.

10. Serves as resource hub for students seeking support and resources relating to their respective identities.

11. Participates in budget preparation and administration, coordinating purchasing and documentation and monitoring departmental expenditures.

12. Attends meetings, educational conferences, and training workshops and serves on committees.

13. Participates in college and university committee activities as assigned.

14. Completes special projects as assigned.

15. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Marginal Job Functions:

1. May be required to work nights or weekends.

2. Travel - Must be able to travel on a daily and/or overnight basis.

3. Conference travel and membership is required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

KNOWLEDGE
1. Administration and Management - General knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, budgeting, human resources modeling, leadership technique, and/or coordination of people and resources.

Bachelor's degree

Major (if required):

College Student Personnel Administration or relevant field

Required Experience:

1. Minimum three (3) years’ experience working with diverse populations in a collegiate setting.

2. Knowledge of issues related to historically underrepresented and marginalized communities.

3. Experience with student development, group facilitation and advising student organizations.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience and training in diversity education through professional development opportunities, accreditation and graduate level course completion in the areas of diversity, social justice, identity development, psychology, gender/queer studies, or other related areas of academia.

2. Experience with budgets and assessment as it relates to student learning and development.
