Assistant Director Location Salt Lake City, UT (East Bench area) : The Office of Orientation & Transition's primary focus is to assist new students and their families as they transition to the University through comprehensive programming that takes place throughout the calendar year. This includes New Student Orientation (NSO), Swoop Camp Extended Orientation, Weeks of Welcome, and Parent, Family & Supporter Orientation (PFSO). The office is hiring an Assistant Director who will work as part of the leadership team to support a variety of programs and initiatives. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field plus one year directly related experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Demonstrated ability to work independently, analyze and make decisions related to program content. Strong coordination and organizational skills required to prioritize conflicting deadlines. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description. Preferences
  • Master's Degree in related field preferred.
  • Two or more years in related professional experience in higher education.
  • Experience working with first year and/or transfer students, faculty, administrative staff, and student groups.
  • Strong demonstrated collaboration skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to and experience creating an inclusive environment
  • Prior event planning experience
  • Prior program development and event coordination experience
  • Prior student staff supervisory and/or advisory experience
  • Knowledge of student development and other academic concepts related to welcoming and orienting college age students.
  • Experience in marketing and communications
