This is a full-time salaried hybrid role located in Auburn Hills, MI. The role requires your presence in the office for at least 2 days a week.

Detroit Labs OnSite Business Unit is looking for an experienced AI/ML Engineer to join an exciting project with an existing client that drives game-changing automotive technology. This role will play a pivotal role in developing and enhancing AI-driven solutions. Your primary responsibility will be to design, implement, and optimize question and answer models that extract valuable insights from large datasets. Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience working with Machine Learning, AI, and Natural Language Processing (NLP)
- Must have hands-on experience with Google Vertex AI, Google BERT and other Google AI tools for building transformer-based question and answer (Q&A) models
- Experience with training and fine-tuning models, preferably on Google Cloud TPUs
- Proficiency in loading content, implementing content restrictions, and instructing AI systems to provide exact answers to questions while continually learning through user interactions and responses
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and relevant machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.)
- Experience with monitoring and optimizing deployed models preferably using Google Cloud Monitoring
- Experience developing evaluation metrics and conducting testing to assess model performance
- Knowledge of grounding language models in context for coherent and relevant text generation
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and present complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively to develop innovative AI solutions
- Must be able to work in a hybrid model in Auburn Hills up to 2 days per week
- Detroit Labs is not currently able to hire candidates who will reside outside of the United States during their term of employment.
Responsibilities
- Utilize your expertise in AI and machine learning to build transformer-based Q&A models using Google BERT, T5, Vertex AI, and other Google AI services
- Train and fine-tune models on Google Cloud TPUs for faster experimentation
- Utilize Tensorflow and PyTorch to build deep learning Q&A models
- Serve models on Google Cloud Endpoints, integrate with Android/iOS apps, and optimize using Google Cloud Monitoring
- Curate and preprocess datasets to train, configure, and monitor to ensure models evolve
- Develop evaluation metrics and conduct rigorous testing to assess model performance
- Identify opportunities to utilize Google AI services like Language API, Dialogflow, etc.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure data quality/availability and integrate Q&A models
- Ground language models in context by developing strategies to maintain coherence and relevance in generated text
- Stay up to date on Google AI research and new product announcements in Q&A and Natural Language Processing space
