COMPANY DESCRIPTION:
Our client develops life-changing medicines for patients using advanced structure-based and computational drug discovery technology. The company’s platform combines the latest advancements in visualization of molecular interactions, computational chemistry, and data integration to design orally available, superior small molecule medicines that overcome current limitations of biologic and peptide drugs. They are advancing a clinical-stage pipeline of differentiated treatments focused on chronic diseases with high unmet need, including cardiovascular, metabolic, and pulmonary conditions.
LOCATION: South San Francisco, CA. Hybrid. 3 days per week.
Position Summary The Director of Global Tax and Treasury is responsible for leading the company's global tax and treasury operations. This includes managing the company's tax compliance, tax planning, cash management, and risk management activities. The Director will also work closely with the company's business units to ensure that tax and treasury considerations are integrated into all strategic and operational decisions.
This position will also oversee and manage the insurance risk management of the global company including corporate policies, clinical trial policies, and D&O policies.
The ideal candidate will have public company experience in environments within the biotech/pharma industry as well as public accounting experiences. We seek a hard-working, team player who will interact collaboratively with the entire management team and play a key role in implementing our financial management processes across our organization, including working with finance team members in global office locations. The position will report to the Sr. VP of Finance.
Essential Duties and responsibilities - Oversee the company's global tax compliance activities, including the preparation and filing of tax returns, the timely payment of taxes, R&D tax credit refunds, the management of tax audits, and all other ad hoc tax assignments.
- Develop and implement tax planning strategies to minimize the company's global tax liability.
- Manage the company's cash flow, including forecasting, budgeting, and investing.
- Identify and manage the company's financial risks, including foreign currency risk, interest rate risk, and credit risk.
- Work with the company's business units to develop and implement tax and treasury strategies that support the company's overall business goals.
- Stay up to date on the latest tax and treasury developments and trends.
- Be process owner and compliant for all SOX narratives, RCMs, and testing for all international Tax and Treasury accounting and reporting.
REQUIREMENTS Education - Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Master's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- CPA or CFA certification.
- Experience in the biotech/therapeutics industry.
Experience - 12 years of experience in tax and/or treasury, with at least 5 years of experience in a global role.
- Strong understanding of international tax and treasury principles and practices.
- Experience with tax planning, tax compliance, cash management, and risk management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Additional Information: This is a full-time position located in our corporate office in South San Francisco, CA and requires minimum 3 days in the office depending on operational needs. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and experienced professional with a strong track record of success in global tax.
Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure: $200,000-$275,000. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
