Job description
Overview:
The Chief Financial Officer has secondary responsibility for the fiscal management of YPTC. In consultation with the Controller, this person provides support on audit preparation, state and local business registrations, accounts receivable management, general ledger, month-end close, planning and analysis. The Assistant Controller ensures that controls and procedures are followed to reduce risk and assure the accuracy of financial reports. In addition, this individual provides oversight for day-to-day accounting operations such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, and daily cash management.
Responsibilities:
General
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll
- Ensure accounting transactions are processed timely and accurately
- Confirm adherence to documented policies and procedures
- Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
Client Support
- Provide guidance and oversight for A/R staff and client billing process
- Ensure that invoicing is correct and timely and that receivables are collected promptly
- Continuously support streamlining process for client payment application
- Improve system for manager communications related to client payment and develop metrics/standards for aging receivables.
Partner Support
- Support monthly close process to ensure issuance of timely and complete financial statements
- Provide financial analysis as needed
Staff Support
- Ensure payroll is processed accurately and in a timely manner
- Oversee process of establishing and maintaining state and local business and payroll tax registrations, reporting and updates for workers compensation insurance coverage in each state.
- Produce profit sharing statements quarterly for funding 401(k) match and as needed
- Transfer funds as required between company accounts – after obtaining approval
- Produce financial research and reporting as requested
Corporate Support
- Provide all assistance needed for the annual audits: Financial Statement, 401(k) audit and form 5500 preparation, workers compensation insurance audit and all internal audits.
- Ensure that payables are processed and paid in a timely manner
- Reconcile bank accounts
- Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and process journal entries in preparation for month-end
- Provide support for year-end tax binder prep and year-end close process
- Cross train for all department roles to provide for consistent coverage
- Handle special projects as may be assigned from time to time
Other
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
- 7+ yrs of progressively responsible accounting experience including Sr. Acct or Assistant Controller
- Outstanding accounting skills
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Excel required
- Thorough knowledge of or desire to learn accounting software packages
- Public accounting experience a plus
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written
- Ability to work well with people at all levels
- Good at multi-tasking
- Enjoy challenges

Total compensation may increase with overtime pay and eligibility for various bonuses. A professional development reimbursement and technology stipend are also provided on an annual basis.
