Overview

At CAES in Woburn MA, as a RF Engineer, you'll design radio frequency and / or wireless transmission technology.  This role also provides circuit designs based on performance specification.

Responsibilities

Provides radio frequency (RF) and/or wireless transmission design. Designs, plans and oversees the design of wireless radio communications systems, including radio propagation modeling and prediction, microwave path analysis, interference analysis, frequency planning, test equipment layout, parameter definition and ancillary equipment.

 

This position provides the circuit designs based on the performance specification, schedule, cost, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.

 

The RF Engineer collaborates with Manufacturing, Process, Mechanical, and System Engineering teams, to define design requirements and identify key risk factors.

 

• Design RF circuits using simulation tools such as: Microwave Office, Visual System Simulator, HFSS, ADS
• Generate BOM’s (Bill of Materials), and identify necessary equipment and components to perform tests
• Perform PCB layouts and/or Interfaces with a layout engineers for PCB tape-out
• Troubleshoots circuits in test bench and simulation
• Ability to provide RF Performance to team and management
• Write test procedures

Qualifications

MINIMUM:

• B.S. in Engineering 
• Two (2)+ years of experience in RF design working with AWR/ADS/HFSS circuit simulation experience or equivalent
• Two (2)+ years of experience working with RF parameters: S-parameters, Noise Figure, Intercept point, Compression, Spurious and Phase Noise
• Master's Degree in Engineering and 1+ years of experience in RF design work
• This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a “US Person” under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license)
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance 

 

PREFERRED:

• M.S. in Engineering and 3+ yars of experience
• 5+ years of experience in RF design working with AWR/ADS/HFSS circuit simulation experience or equivalent
• 5+ years of experience working with RF parameters: S-parameters, Noise Figure, Intercept point, Compression, Spurious and Phase Noise
• 2+ Years of Experience working with RF Design Architecture Fundamentals, RF Budget Analysis and ElectroMagnetic Analysis
• Requires a degree of ingenuity, creativity and resourcefulness to design and deliver highly advanced solutions
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Background in defense industry
• Active DOD Security Clearance
