Job Description: FT Faculty, Program Coordinator, Paralegal Program Division of Human Services and Emergency Response Pathways MCCC/MTA unit position SALARY: Salary will be commensurate with education and experience in accordance with the MCCC/MTA collective bargaining agreement and conditional to funding. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: North Shore Community College seeks a Full Time Faculty member who will serve as Coordinator of the Paralegal Program in addition to teaching program courses. The chosen candidate will oversee the growth and development of the program, balancing the duties of a coordinator with teaching responsibilities. The Coordinator will work with other Paralegal faculty, community organizations, other divisional faculty, an advisory board and college administrators and staff to maintain the program's ABA (American Bar Association) accreditation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Teach up to four courses or twelve credits each semester in the Paralegal Program, including law courses in related Programs, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
- Serve as the Program Coordinator of the Paralegal Program with responsibilities that include program planning, curriculum development, student recruitment and retention, as well as budgeting.
- Provide academic and career advising for Paralegal Program students.
- Oversee compliance with ABA Guidelines for approved Paralegal Program.
- Work closely with admissions and advising to ensure accurate processes are in place for special admissions process.
- Coordinate practicum placements.
- Work across departments and divisions to ensure accreditation compliance.
- Identify competencies for faculty in program courses and assist in recruiting and orienting faculty.
- Review program curricula, syllabi, course content, and schedules, implementing curriculum changes as necessary.
- Convene advisory committee each semester using published guidelines.
- Attendance at recruitment events/College events
- Coordinate communication and meetings with administration, faculty, the advisory committee, and educators at other Massachusetts community colleges.
- Develop a written report on Program's outcomes at the end of semester for reassigned time and review report with Academic Dean.
- Participate in appropriate college service activities (e.g. governance committee membership, recruitment activities, development/enhancement of courses/program and/or resources).
- Must be willing to travel between campuses as needed to fulfill instructional and non-instructional workload.
- Perform other duties as assigned consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Paralegal plus a related Master's degree and a minimum of three years paralegal experience.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and interpersonal connection with culturally diverse populations
- Successful support of and commitment to historically minoritized faculty, staff and students
- Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or a National background check as a condition of employment.
Strongly Preferred: - Teaching experience at the community college level is strongly preferred.
- A JD degree is the preferred credential, with corollary good professional standing and experience
- Experience teaching online/hybrid and/or embedding the use of technology into the curriculum preferred.
- Familiarity with ABA Approval Guidelines for paralegal programs preferred.
- Experience with academic program review and assessment preferred.
