The Governing Board of Montana Digital Academy (MTDA) invites applications for the position of  MTDA Ambassador . Under the supervision of the Distance Learning Program Director, the MTDA Ambassador serves as a communication conduit, trainer, and master troubleshooter between the Montana Digital Academy and K-12 public schools across the state of Montana.

Position Details

  • Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, Letter of Appointment and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including Insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.
  • Salary for this position is $65,000 per year commensurate with qualifications.

 

Required Qualifications

  •   Bachelor’s degree in education, educational policy, or a related field. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain working relationships with staff, faculty, and administrators.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace for Education technology communication tools (i.e.Zoom, Google Chat, Google Meets)
  • Ability to work independently outside of a formal office environment.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and implement projects.
  • Ability to quickly develop a strong understanding of MTDA programs and tools.
  • Ability to utilize technology for data collection and communication with MTDA Montana and local school staff.
  • Ability to travel regularly across Montana and out-of-state several times annually.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Education, or Educational Administration, or equivalent.
  • Experience working with online and/or blended learning or technology-related programs in secondary schools.
  • Experience implementing distance learning in a middle school or high school.
  • Experience teaching and/or developing courses in an online environment.
  • Experience working in or with schools in Montana.
  • Experience teaching in a K-12 classroom (either online or face-to-face).

 

About UM and MTDA

The University of Montana is a flagship, research-intensive R1 institution with approximately 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Montana Digital Academy (MTDA) is the statewide digital online school for the State of Montana. Created by the Montana legislature in 2009 in MCA 20-7-1201 which authorized its creation and located it at the University of Montana. The purposes of the MTDA are to:

a. make remote instruction opportunities available to all school-age children through public school districts in the state, including students who are enrolled on a part-time basis; Remote instruction opportunities provided through the academy must include: 

i. remote instruction developed in Montana and provided by highly qualified educators licensed in Montana; and 

ii. additional high-quality remote instruction offerings through the Montana digital academy clearinghouse under [section 2]. 

b. maximize access to high-quality remote instruction through flexibility in licensure and endorsement. Remote instructors may include teachers who are licensed and endorsed in Montana or elsewhere in the area of instruction taught. When the remote instructor is not licensed and endorsed in Montana or elsewhere, the school district providing remote instruction through the academy shall assign an individual with a class 1, 2, 3, or 4 license under 20-4106 to facilitate pupil access to the remote instruction.

c. provide courses that empower pupils to become community, college, and career ready, including but not limited to:

i. core subject matters required under accreditation standards or school board policy;

ii. innovative educational programs, as defined in 15-30-3102; and 

iii. proficiency-based courses. 

MTDA and the University of Montana have established a unique, one-of-a-kind partnership, among the statewide online schools across the United States. MTDA is the only state online program that is a part of a College of Education at a major university.
